Parent-Implemented Training for Autism Through Telemedicine

As I mentioned in a previous post, we have been invited to participate in an autism study being conducted through WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU-CED).

WVU-CED has supplied me with some additional information that I can pass along to you. The study truly sounds like a wonderful opportunity and they are still accepting families into the study.

You may be eligible if:

  • You have a child between 18 and 48 months of age who meets the diagnostic criteria for autism, or is suspected of having autism.
  • Live in the Appalachian Region (West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, or Kentucky).
  • Are willing to participate in a year-long research study.
  • Are able to drive to Morgantown, WV or Big Chimney WV twice during the course of the study. (Once at the beginning, and once at the end for assessments of your child.)

Here is a flyer about the program:

Also there is also helpful information at  http://www.pitat.cedwvu.org/

If you are interested please give them a call and they can talk you about the study. I found them to be very compassionate, friendly and helpful.

If you know someone who has a child with autism within those age ranges, please pass along the information. For parents willing and able to work with their children, this is a wonderful opportunity for free training on how to do so.
