Quotation Inspiration

When I read the WEGO HAWMC prompt topic for today, called Quotation Inspiration, I instantly knew that my entry here on Enduring the Silence would be a quote from Temple Grandin. I plan on doing a different quote over on DorkyDeb.com (that’s right two posts for #HAWMC today).

For those of you that don’t know, Temple Grandin is probably the most famous individual with autism. She earned her Ph.D. in animal science from the University of Illinois, and went on to become a professor at Colorado State University. She is one of the most effective animal advocates on the planet.

Many people claim to be advocates against animal cruelty, when in reality they make little impact in the lives of animals. Temple Grandin, on the other hand, is the real deal. She is quite possibly the most effective animal advocate on the planet. In North America, over half of all cattle are handled in humane systems she has designed. She literally changed the way things were done, in a positive and lasting manner. She has written books on autism and she lectures worldwide on autism and animal handling.

This is one of my favorite Temple Grandin quotes. I really think it speaks for itself, and needs no explanation:

They knew I was different, not less.
Temple Grandin

Good for you for doing the prompt challenge! I signed up for it and got the prompts but have failed to do one yet – oops! Like you, I love Temple Grandin. She’s such a model of how autism can work FOR you, if given the chance.

  3. That is a touching quote. I’m going to share it with others. Thank you so much for sharing it.
